What do you get for the King who has everything? Well, you make him something he doesn’t have! That’s exactly how Crown Royal came about. When King George VI became the first reigning British monarch to visit Canada in 1939, one local whisky lover decided to blend a special whisky just for them to commemorate the trip. George was clearly a big fan since he packed 10 whole crates of the stuff onto this train when he headed back home. To find the perfect blend, 600 different whiskies were sampled until the perfect mix was found. What resulted was a blend of 50 whiskies with the very appropriate name Crown Royal. This whisky fit for a king was released in the USA in the 1960s and with its signature decanter design bottle and royal purple cover it quickly became the number 1 selling brand of Canadian whisky in the US. Distilled back in 1979, this Crown Royal Fine De Luxe 1979 is whisky fit for a king.
