Daftmill is a farm distillery. Owned and operated by the Cuthbert family, the distillery itself only runs during the farm’s quiet periods – midsummer and winter – sometimes producing as few as 100 casks per year. When not distilling, Francis Cuthbert looks after the estate, growing the barley used to make this Lowland whisky. This Daftmill Summer Batch Release was distilled from clear wort during the summer of 2008, with a slow distillation regime. It contains whisky from seven first fill Bourbon barrels: cask 040/2006, 046/2008, 057/2008, 059/2008, 061/2008, 063/2008 and cask 64/2008, which were filled in 2008. Only 1780 bottles were every produced, making this Daftmill about as limited as all great Daftmill releases.
