Daviess County 4 Years Old is a vintage bourbon distilled by The Fleischmann Distilling Corporation in Owensboro, Kentucky and exported for the Italian market. The bourbon matured for 4 years and is bottled at 86 proof. The Fleischmann brand was founded in 1868 by the Hungarian and Austrian immigrant brothers Charles and Maximillian Fleischmann. They originally produced a special type of yeast that caused a revolution in the baking world – and in the world of distilling. The high demand for the yeast caused the company to build another factory in Peekskill, New York. In 1870, they opened their distillery in Riverside, Ohio, where they produced gin, vodka and bourbon. After Prohibition, production moved to a distillery in Owensboro, Kentucky. In 1989, the Glenmore Distillery Company bought Fleischmann. It was later sold to Barton. The Fleischmann brand is currently owned by the Sazerac company, who acquired it after they took over Barton Brands in 2009.
