Diamond 18 Years Old That Boutique-y Rum Company Batch 4 is a limited-edition traditional column rum from the Diamond Distillery in Guyana, released by eccentric indie bottler That Boutique-y Whisky Company (rebranded to That Boutique-y Rum Company for the occasion). When many Guyana distilleries began to close towards the end of the 20th century, production was consolidated at the Diamond Distillery, the last rum distillery left in the country. The Diamond Distillery now produces several unique styles of rum on the heritage stills acquired from those closed distilleries. Diamond 18 Years Old That Boutique-y Rum Company Batch 4 was distilled on the famous four-column metal French Savalle Still, inherited from the 18th-century Uitvlugt Estate. The rum was distilled in 2003 and then transferred to the UK for further maturation, before being bottled at 58%. It has lots of smoky molasses on the nose, joined by caramel, juicy dates, cacao and Turkish delight. The palate is soft and oily, with lots more caramel and juicy raisins. More juicy raisins, baking spices and tannins reveal themselves on the finish. Only 294 bottles have been released.
