In the 1700s, there was a man named Severo Arango y Ferro who oversaw trade between Spain and the American Spanish colonies. He was known among the locals as ‘El Dictador’ because of his strong and powerful character. When he discovered rum, he immediately fell in love and began trading the sugar cane spirit. Cut to 1913 and Don Julio Arango y Parra, one of El Dictador’s descendants. He founded the Destilería Colombiana to produce Dictador rum, honouring his forefather’s legacy. The limited-edition Best Of series represents the best and oldest barrels from the distillery’s warehouses. Dictador Best Of 1978 Bottled For The Nectar was blended from some of Dictador’s choicest casks filled in 1978, and bottled for the 10th anniversary of Belgian importer The Nectar. It saw a limited release of 309 bottles at 44.6%.
