Doc Swinson’s 15 Years Old Release 008 is the 8th release in Doc Swinson’s acclaimed Hand Selected Exploratory Cask Series. This small batch, sourced from an undisclosed distillery, contains only 27 barrels. Doc Swinson’s bottled the bourbon in 2020 at a cask strength of 114.2 proof (57.1% ABV). Only 4015 bottles of Doc Swinson’s 15 Years Old Release 008 were released. Doc Swinson’s is a relatively new brand of sourced whisky. The company, located in Washington state, started out as a small independent bottler. When they were offered a cache of bourbon barrels that was too good to pass up on, they didn’t refuse. The Doc Swinson’s brand has been growing steadily since then, bottling some pretty amazing Kentucky Straight Bourbons. Fun fact: David Swinson ‘Doc’ Maynard was one of Seattle’s founders. At the time, the settlement was still called Duwamps, after the tribe of Native Americans that lived there when the settlers arrived. Doc Swinson named it Seattle, after Chief Si’ahl (‘Seattle’).
