This 12-year-old Elijah Craig from 2012 comes with a beautiful card board box, making it an eye catcher next to a real fine sipper. Read on if you would like a pretty cool history story on Reverend Elijah Craig and his pioneer days of whiskey making! As the story goes, the Reverend Elijah Craig operated Royal Spring Mill on a site which is today Georgetown, Kentucky. Like many of the pioneer settlers of his day, the good Reverend often turned his beautiful corn crop into whiskey so that it could be easily transported for sale at distant markets. As fate would have it, the mill sustained a small fire which resulted in a charring of the oak barrels in which he aged his pure corn whiskey. The frugal Reverend, not wanting to be wasteful, put the charred oak barrels to use, and by stroke a stroke of good fortune, the resulting whiskey was much smoother and richer, with a distinctive color and flavor all its own.
