Starting at the beginning of 2017, Heaven Hill revamped their Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Series. Look at that pretty new bottle. The Batch Numbers might seem unclear, but it’s easy to decipher once you understand how they are built up: The first letter indicates which of that year’s releases the bottle was a part of starting with ‘A’, while the second digit is a number that determines the month of the year the bottle was released. The third and fourth digits indicate the year. The second release from 2017 comes from May. It is bottled at 124.2 proof, slightly less than the ‘A’ release from 2017.
