Calvados is a type of apple brandy from Normandy, France. In 1960, Christian Drouin Sr. became the owner of a farm near Honfleur that grew cider apple trees, and he soon started producing his own calvados. His son, Christian Drouin Jr., joined him in 1969 and began marketing the business. By specialising in the production of the rarest and oldest calvados, Christian Drouin sets itself apart. Experimental de Christian Drouin is a range of innovative small batch bottlings, the result of experiments with different cask finishes. Experimental De Christian Drouin 14 Years Old Calvados Pays d’Auge Long Pond Angels Small Batch #4 was finished for 7 months in barrels that previously held rum from Long Pond in Jamaica. After a total maturation of 14 years, it was bottled in August 2021. The calvados has a rich and elegant nose with aromas of brown sugar, melon, papaya and apple. The palate has a nice acidity and offers notes of vanilla and pepper. The finish is long on banana and apple. Only 1890 bottles have been released.
