Ferrand cognac meets Jamaican funk in the limited-edition Ferrand Renegade Barrel No. 3 Jamaican Rum Finish, the third release in Ferrand’s Renegade Barrel collection. This delicious creation is a tribute to old master blenders who would go to the harbor in Bordeaux to collect rum barrels as they arrived from the Caribbean. The exceptional bottling started out with a vintage 2011 Ferrand Premier Cru Cognac. It was then finished in 1996 Jamaican rum barrels from the renowned Long Pond distillery, and bottled at 48.2%. As the spirit was finished in rum casks, it technically cannot be called a cognac anymore and is therefore referred to as ‘eau-de-vie de vin’. On the palate, Ferrand Renegade Barrel No. 3 Jamaican Rum Finish reveals intense and fruity notes of orange, guava and cape gooseberry, accompanied by pastry notes of almond and vanilla with a floral touch of honeysuckle. The finish is long and suave with lemongrass, pepper and licorice, and hints of coffee and mint.
