Fleurieu Australian Whisky 3 Years Old TBWC Batch 1 matured in an ex-sherry cask for 3 years and was bottled in 2021 at 49.5%. The Fleurieu distillery is located on the Fleurieu peninsula in South Australia, near Adelaide. It was founded by Gareth and Angela Andrews, who converted their craft beer brewery into a whisky distillery in 2016. Fleurieu has quickly risen in popularity, racking up a range of awards for their highly popular bottlings. The distillery’s copper pot stills are modeled after those at Caol Ila and produce a similar tasting spirit. The label references an incident that actually happened at the distillery a couple of years ago. The distillery is located in an old train shed, and there are still tracks running through the building. While the train line is no longer in use, a group of steam train enthusiasts occasionally operates a train on the line. One day, they lost control and the train barreled (pun intended) straight through the distillery’s doors. Only 260 bottles of Fleurieu Australian Whisky 3 Years Old TBWC Batch 1 have been released. In recent years the whisky industry in Australia has grown exponentially, with over 50 distilleries currently having whiskies on the market. 2021 marks the first release of That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Australia Series, which brings single malts from these new and innovative distilleries to whisky lovers from all over the world.
