The Four Roses brand was created somewhere in the 19th century, although its origins have never been entirely clear. The Four Roses distillery we know today was built in Lawrenceburg in 1910. It was designed by Joseph & Joseph Architects in the Spanish Mission style, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The distillery closed at the onset of Prohibition and much of the equipment was sold in the following years. It was then refurbished and reopened in 1933. Originally called Old Prentice, the distillery became known as Four Roses after Seagram purchased the Four Roses brand and moved production to Lawrenceburg in 1946. Four Roses 100th Anniversary Single Barrel #24-3B, is a limited-edition release to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Four Roses distillery building. The bourbon was made using the OBSV recipe and aged for 17 years in barrel #24-3B. It was bottled in 2010 at a barrel strength of 54%. Only 2359 bottles were released.
