Fujikai 10 Years Old is… different, to say the least. This artisanal Japanese single malt was made by Monde Shuzou, a winery located at the foot of Mount Fuji. It matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks and was bottled in 2015. In collaboration with French distributor Les Whiskies du Monde, 8808 bottles were released for the European market. Although the official tasting notes of the Fujikai 10 Years Old describe flavours of warm spices, walnuts, deep vanilla, plums and apples, consumers beg to differ. A selection from the reviews: ‘just plain disgusting. Some kind of chemical poisoned fluid’ and ‘possibly the most disgusting whisky ever bottled.’ To nobody’s surprise, this has been the only whisky ever released under the Fujikai name. We advise that you drink this whisky at your own risk, but you can at least expect an interesting tasting experience. In addition, you’ll have an awesome collector’s item. Not many can say that they own the worst whisky in the world, after all!
