From down in the Scottish Lowlands comes the Girvan 26 Years Old The Red Cask 1996. This rare single grain whisky was distilled in April 1996 and matured for 26 years, including a finish in a single first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead. It was bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 51.3%. The whisky opens with aromas of honey, lemon drizzle cake, quince and a hint of tobacco. Vanilla-rich oak takes the spotlight on the palate, balanced by candied peel and roasted almonds. Hints of pear drops, flaky pastry and caraway linger on the finish.
