Glen Grant 49 Years Old Gordon & Macphail 1961-2011 is a superb Glen Grant single malt, aged for nearly half a century in a single sherry cask before being bottled by Gordon & Macphail for the Licensed Bottling range. The whisky was distilled on Christmas Day 1961 and was left to quietly mature at the distillery for many years before being transferred to Gordon & Macphail’s bonded warehouses in Elgin in 1972. After a total maturation of 49 years, it was bottled in February 2011. Glen Grant 49 Years Old Gordon & Macphail 1961-2011 is a complex sherried Speyside whisky. On the nose, you’ll find aromas of dark chocolate, peppermint, malt, vanilla, ground coffee and banana. Waves of blackcurrants and blueberries are present on the palate, along with a wonderful smoke note and flavours of liquorice and spicy aniseed.
