This extraordinary Glen Grant single malt aged for half a century(!) before being bottled up by Gordon & Macphail for the Licensed Bottling range. The whisky was distilled on 28 October 1963 and matured in first-fill sherry butt #5178, which yielded just 183 bottles in February 2014. Glen Grant 50 Years Old Gordon & Macphail 1963-2014 has a richly sherried nose with aromas of stewed pears, demerara sugar, subtle beeswax and charred oak notes. The palate has flavours of grapefruit, stewed apples and almond, followed by a long and smooth finish with a lingering chocolate edge. Please note: it takes two spaces in a parcel.
