Of the over 30 distilleries that once called Campbeltown home, only two managed to survive until contemporary times (not counting Glengyle, which only reopened in 2004): the family-owned Springbank, and Glen Scotia. Having been closed multiple times in its nearly two-century existence, Glen Scotia survived by the skin of its teeth. The distillery was founded in 1832 and was mothballed from 1930 to 1933, from 1984 to 1989, and again from 1994 to 1999. Loch Lomond Distillers took over in 1999, and restarted production using staff from Springbank. From May 2000, onwards, Glen Scotia has run operations with its own staff. The 18 Year Old is part of a new core range, that was launched in 2012. The whisky matured primarily in premium quality bourbon casks, resulting in a dram with fruity, floral and spicy flavors. The eye-catching blue bottle is adorned with an image of the iconic Highland cattle.

Safe packing
