Glen Spey 12 Years Old The Manager’s Dram 2008 is a limited-edition Gley Spey single malt, selected by Malt Distillery Managers within Diageo Distilling Ltd and released exclusively for Diageo employees. The whisky aged for 12 years and was bottled in August 2008 at a cask strength of 53.5%. Glen Spey is one of the five distilleries in the town of Rothes. The distillery was founded in 1878 by local corn merchant James Stuart. It was initially an oatmeal mill named ‘Mill of Rothes’, and Stuart added equipment for whisky distillation a couple of years later. The distillery is now part of spirits giant Diageo. Most of Glen Spey’s production is used in Justerini & Brooks blends, making single malt bottlings rare. The first official bottling was a 12-year-old in the Flora & Fauna series, released in 2001. Fun fact: Glen Spey is one of the few distilleries that uses purifiers during distillation. This increases reflux, resulting in a lighter spirit.
