This Glenallachie 10 Years Old Cask Strength is the predecessor of the best single malt in the world, as Batch 4 won this World Whisy Award early in 2021. Batch 3 matured for 10 years in a combination of Oloroso sherry hogsheads, Pedro Ximénez puncheons, first-fill and second-fill bourbon and virgin oak casks. It was bottled in May 2019 at a cask strength of 58.2% ABV. Glenallachie rose to fame just a few years ago, when the distillery and its remaining stock were bought by the GlenAllachie Consortium, led by whisky entrepreneur Billy Walker. Walker, who previously formed the BenRiach Distillery Company, breathed new life into the overlooked distillery and created some fantastic new releases. Only 3500 bottles of Glenallachie 10 Years Old Cask Strength Batch 3 have been released.
