Whisky icon Billy Walker began his distinguished career in 1972. Since then he has been responsible for blending and distilling for countless household name brands. In 2017 he became the owner and master distiller of Glenallachie, and in 2022 Billy Walker celebrated his 50th anniversary in the whisky industry. Glenallachie 16 Years Old Billy Walker 50th Anniversary 2022 is the first release in The Past, Present and Future Series in honour of this milestone. This expression represents Billy’s past, when he made a name for himself by releasing heavily sherried whiskies to great acclaim. It is made up of nine 2005 vintage sherry butts, bottled in February 2022 at a cask strength of 57.1%. On the nose, Glenallachie 16 Years Old Billy Walker 50th Anniversary 2022 has waves of walnuts, heather honey and subtle dried fruits, followed by bursts of toasted coffee, orange peel and cinnamon sticks. The palate is full-bodied with notes of glazed figs, rich espresso, caramelised muscovado sugar, roasted pine nuts, heather honey, dried apricots and sweet spices.
