Glenallachie’s new core range was launched in 2018, after Billy Walker had acquired the distillery from Pernod Ricard. Glenallachie 18 Years Old is one of the new standard expressions, a single malt that matured for 18 years in virgin American oak, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 46%. The Glenallachie distillery was founded in 1967 by Mackinlay McPherson. It was sold to Invergordon Distillers in 1985, who mothballed the distillery only two years later. Campbell Distillers took over in 1989 and restarted production. In 2017, the distillery was sold to The GlenAllachie Consortium led by Master Distiller Billy Walker.
