Glenburgie 32 Years Old Gordon & Macphail 1988 is a single cask whisky from the Speyside distillery Glenburgie, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice range. The whisky was distilled on 27 January 1988 and matured for 32 years in refill American hogshead #1083. It was bottled on 7 December 2020 at a cask strength of 53.8%. Glenburgie was founded in 1810 as the Kilnflat Distillery. It closed in 1870 after financial troubles, but reopened eight years later under the name Glenburgie-Glenlivet. Alexander Fraser & Co took over Glenburgie in 1884. In 1925, the company filed for bankruptcy and Donald Mustad took control of the distillery. In 1927, James & George Stodart Ltd bought the distillery which had become inactive by this time. The Canadian company Hiram Walker acquired Glenburgie in October 1936, and restarted production. Hiram Walker was bought by Allied Lyons in 1987, which in turn was acquired by Pernod Ricard in 2005. The majority of Glenburgie’s production is used in Ballantine’s blended Scotch, making single malt bottlings rare. Only 134 bottles of Glenburgie 32 Years Old Gordon & Macphail 1988 have been released. Please note: due to the size and weight, this bottle takes up two spaces in a parcel.
