Legend has it that the Glendronach distillery is haunted by the ghost of a Spanish lady who sailed over to Scotland in a sherry barrel. Supposedly she’d heard how good the Cask Bottling series from Glendronach is and she had to try a drop herself. You can’t fault the lady’s good taste, because Glendronach has been perfecting the art of sherry cask maturation for almost 200 years. The Glendronach 27 Years Old Cask #7276 1993-2020 is a fine example of this. It was aged in an Oloroso sherry puncheon for 27 years and bottled in 2020. The nose has aromas of plum, dates and cherry with the roundness of mulled wine and spices. The palate is a rich combination of plum, cherry and prunes with a little citrus twist and finishes with dark chocolate, sultanas and spices.
