It’s no surprise that Glenfarclas began the Family Casks series. Afterall, the distillery has been owned by a member of the Grant family for 5 generations. This series was launched in 2007 with the aim of releasing a cask from every year between 1952-1994. Thanks to the foresight of previous generations of Grants, Glenfarclas has built up quite a stock that’s been patiently maturing in their warehouse for decades. This is one of the widest ranges of vintage dated whisky, from consecutive years and from the same distillery. It allows whisky lovers to sample the subtle differences year to year in the Glenfarclas story. Glenfarclas Family Casks 1990-2021 Cask #9256 has a nose of sherry wood and varnish. The palate displays chocolate, tobacco, dried fruit and plums. The finish is long with old leather, chocolate, coffee and a hint of plum.
