Glengoyne 21 Years Old 2015 is a complex and bright single malt with notes of Christmas cake, honey and rich fruit, followed by a long cinnamon finish. It matured for 21 years in hand-selected sherry casks, and is bottled at 43%. Glengoyne was founded in 1833 under the name Burnfoot Distilleries. The distillery was operated by the local farmer George Connell. Whisky merchant Lang Brothers took over in 1876 and changed the name to Glenguin, which became Glengoyne a couple of decades later. Glengoyne is currently in the hands of Ian Macleod Distillers, who acquired it in 2003. Fun fact: Glengoyne is the only Highland distillery whose whisky matures in the Lowlands. The distillery is located right on the Highland Line, so while its stills are in the Highlands, its casks mature on the other side of the road in the Lowlands!
