The daily dram was a whisky tradition up until the 1970s. During their shifts, distillery workers would be provided with a dram of fresh whisky. The distillery owners knew their workers were going to secretly take some anyway, so it was easier to just give it to them straight away. At Glengoyne, if a worker couldn’t finish his daily dram, he would pour it into an old copper teapot so the others could enjoy it later. The Glengoyne Teapot Dram pays tribute to that tradition. The long-time employees of Glengoyne strove to recreate the whisky they enjoyed when they were younger. The single malt matured in first-fill Oloroso casks and was bottled in 2019 at a cask strength of 59.9%. Only 3993 bottles of the Glengoyne Teapot Dram Cask Strength were released. Fun fact: Glengoyne is the only Highland distillery whose whisky matures in the Lowlands. The distillery is located right on the Highland Line, so while its stills are in the Highlands, its casks mature on the other side of the road in the Lowlands.
