A rare single cask whisky from the closed Highland distillery Glenlochy, released by Signatory Vintage as part of the Cask Strength Collection. The whisky was distilled on 5 June 1980 and matured in refill butt #1759 for 32 years. It was bottled on 9 July 2012 at a cask strength of 60.1%. The Glenlochy distillery was founded in 1898 by David McAndie. It is located on the banks of River Nevis and at the foot of the Ben Nevis mountain. The distillery closed during the First World War and was reopened in 1937, when Train & MacIntyre Ltd. acquired the company. Distillers Company Ltd. took over in 1953, and mothballed Glenlochy in 1968. The distillery was modernized the following years, but closed after all in 1983. It was later converted into a hotel and restaurant. As most of Glenlochy’s spirit was produced for blends, no official bottlings were released during the distillery’s lifetime and independent bottlings remain rare. Only 499 bottles of Glenlochy 32 Years Old Signatory Vintage 1980 have been released.
