About the Glenmorangie Sherry Wood
Glenmorangie Sherry Wood was launched in 1996. The whisky first matured in American oak casks for 12 years. It was finished in sherry butts and bottled at 43% ABV. Glenmorangie was founded in 1843 by farmer William Matheson. Production had been going on at the farm as early as 1738, possibly even 1703. Until 2008, the distillation process at Glenmorangie was undertaken by a staff of 16, nicknamed ‘The Sixteen Men of Tain’ after the town of Tain where the distillery is located. After an expansion there is now a staff of 24, simply referred to as ‘The Men of Tain’. Glenmorangie was acquired by Moët Hennessy in 2004.
