Glenrothes 21 Years Old Cadenhead 1994 is a single malt from the Speyside distillery Glenrothes, released by Cadenhead for their Authentic Collection range. The whisky was distilled in 1994 and matured in a bourbon hogshead for 21 years. It was bottled in October 2015 at a cask strength of 53%. Only 246 bottles have been released. The Glenrothes distillery was founded in 1878 by James Stuart & Co. and has seen a turbulent history. The first whisky was distilled the same day the Tay Bridge collapsed; the distillery was damaged by a fire in 1897; in 1903 there was an explosion, and in the 20th century Glenrothes endured two more fires. Coincidentally, the distillery is located right next to the local cemetery… We’re not superstitious but it sounds like the place might be haunted.
