An extremely well-balanced beauty, this 36-year-old Glenury Royal is a very special release from a tragically lost distillery, that got raving reviews when they were still producing single malt whisky. Diageo owns the remaining stock – they bottled this one in 2005. Glenury closed after one of the many crises in the Scotch whisky industry, in this case 1983. The buildings of the distillery were sold in 1993 to a property company, which turned part of these buildings into apartments. That’s pretty neat. NEAT! Pun definitely intended. It’s how we like our whisky.
