Glenury Royal Gordon & Macphail 125th Anniversary Edition 1984 is a special limited-edition single cask malt from the Glenury Royal Distillery, which closed in 1983. The whisky was distilled on 7 June 1984 and matured in first-fill sherry butt #2335 for 35 long years. It was bottled on 29 May 2020 at 49.1% by Gordon & Macphail for their 125th anniversary. A rare single malt from a bygone distillery, distilled just a year before Glenury Royal closed for good. Only 397 bottles of Glenury Royal Gordon & Macphail 125th Anniversary Edition 1984 have been released. The Glenury Royal Distillery was founded in 1825 by Captain Robert Barclay Allardice. Establishing a distillery is already impressive, but Robert Barclay Allardice was famous for something else: when he was 29, he walked 1000 miles in 1000 hours to win 1000 guineas, earning him the nickname ‘the celebrated pedestrian’. Allardice is considered the father of pedestrianism: professional walking (yes, apparently that exists). Please note: due to the size of this bottle, it takes up 3 spaces in a parcel.
