Hampden 8 Years Old White Eyed Thrush Cask #664 is a single cask rum from the Hampden Estate in Jamaica. The rum was distilled in 2012 and matured in cask #664 for 8 years, before being bottled in 2020 at 60.2%. The release is part of the Trelawny Endemic Birds Series, portraying some of Jamaica’s rare native birds. This bottle features the White-eyed Thrush, recognizable by its distinctive white eyes which earned the bird the local nickname Glass Eye. Cask 664 was selected by the German company Kirsch Import. Only 250 bottles have been released. The Hampden Estate was founded in 1753, making it one of Jamaica’s oldest distilleries. For 250 years it was a family-owned business, but after financial troubles in the early 2000s the government assumed ownership. They sold the company again in 2009 to Everglades Farms Ltd., who released the distillery’s first official bottling in 2018.
