Henry McKenna is a vintage bottle of Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, aged for 6 years and bottled at 86 proof. The Henry McKenna brand was created in 1855, when the Irish immigrant Henry McKenna established a distillery on his farm in Fairfield, Nelson County. By 1880, his whiskey was in such high demand that he had to build a new brick distillery with a larger capacity. By the 1890s, the whiskey was sold throughout the United States. When Henry McKenna died in 1893, the distillery was taken over by his sons Daniel, James, and Stafford. After Prohibition, the Henry McKenna brand and distillery were sold to Seagram. The majority of the distillery’s production went into Seagram’s blends, such as Seven Crown and Four Roses, but Henry McKenna was still made as well. Bourbon’s decline in the 1960s forced the distillery to eventually close in 1974. This bottle pre-date that moment. The domestic rights to Henry McKenna have been in the hands of Heaven Hill since the early 1980s, while Four Roses has the brand’s export rights.
