Highland Park Q Project Gordon & Macphail 2001-2016 is a single cask malt from the Orkney distillery Highland Park, bottled by Gordon & Macphail exclusively for the Q project. The whisky was distilled on 16 October 2001 and matured for 14 years in first-fill bourbon barrel #3001. It was bottled in August 2016 at a cask strength of 56.6%. Highland Park is one of the two whisky distilleries on the Orkney Islands, and the most northerly-located distillery in Scotland. It was founded at the end of the 18th century by beadle and illicit distiller Magnus Eunson. Magnus was later arrested, and the distillery was taken over by a syndicate which, ironically, included Magnus’ arresting officer John Roberston. Highland Park received a license to distill whisky in 1826. Only 196 bottles of Highland Park Q Project Gordon & Macphail 2001-2016 have been released.
