A vintage bottle of 12-year-old I.W. Harper bourbon, exported for the Japanese market before the Berhnheim distillery closed in 1991. The I.W. Harper brand was introduced in the 1870s by the Bernheim Brothers. The ‘I.W.’ refers to the initials of Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, but a different surname was chosen for marketability. The brand was discontinued in the United States in the 1980s, when Schenley decided it would be more profitable to produce the bourbon solely for the Japanese market. After a 30 year absence, Diageo reintroduced the brand to the US market in 2015. This bottle comes in a sliding box, with a top half and a bottom half, in contrast to the regular I.W. Harper with a box that has a lid.
