Imperial Gordon & MacPhail 1996-2015 contains whisky from one of Imperial’s final years, as the distillery was shut down in 1998 and subsequently demolished. The single malt was distilled in 1996 and bottled in December 2015 by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Licensed Bottling range. The renowned independent bottler was established in 1895 and quickly built rapport with the majority of Scottish distilleries. At a time when the bulk of a distillery’s output was intended for blends, Gordon & MacPhail would produce the only licensed single malt bottlings. Imperial Gordon & MacPhail 1996-2015 shows delicate sherry influences with apricot and mango aromas, complemented by a hint of liquorice. The palate is peppery with ripe banana, orange and lingering milk chocolate flavours.
