Inchgower 30 Years Old Dun Bheagan 1982 Cask #6981 is a single cask bottling of Inchgower single malt, released by Ian Macleod for the Dun Bheagan range. The whisky was distilled in June 1982 and matured for 30 years in hogshead #6981. It was bottled in July 2012 at 50.2%. Only 146 bottles have been released. The idea for Inchgower arose in 1870, when the successful distiller Alexander Wilson was forced to suspend operations at his family’s Tochineal distillery. The rent was doubled, making the small premises uneconomic to operate. So Alexander took Tochineal’s workforce and equipment and moved to the coast, building the new Inchgower distillery close to the River Spey. Inchgower stayed in the hands of the Wilson family until the 1930s, when it had to be saved from bankruptcy by the local government. Arthur Bell & Sons took over the distillery in 1938, and Inchgower has been one of the signature malts for Bell’s Blended Scotch ever since. Today, Inchgower is part of Diageo.
