Invergordon is the most northerly grain whisky distillery in Scotland, located hundreds of miles north of the grain distilleries in the Scottish Lowlands. It was founded in 1960, and has been in the hands of Whyte & Mackay since 1993. Invergordon has the capacity to produce a staggering 40,000,000 litres of whisky per year. Most of the distillery’s output is intended for blends, but from time to time independent bottlers like A.D. Rattray, release amazing single grain bottlings. Invergordon was distilled in 1972, and matured for 43 years in a single bourbon cask. It was bottled by hand on 25 May 2016, at a cask strength of 49.7%.
