When Joseph Washington Dant started distilling whiskey in the 1830s, he was completely broke and couldn’t afford a proper still. He famously hollowed out a log and started using it as a log still. When the popularity of his bourbon grew, J.W. Dant bought a copper still and established the first Dant distillery. In 2021, descendants of J.W. Dant opened the Log Still distillery, paying homage to their family’s distilling legacy. This bottle of J.W. Dant Olde Bourbon was produced by Heaven Hill, who acquired the J.W. Dant brand in 1993.
