Jack Daniel’s is one of the most famous whiskey brands in the world. The Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee was established in 1866 by Jasper Newton ‘Jack’ Daniel. His whiskey quickly became a success and has won numerous prestigious awards over the years. The highly-collectible Gold Medals series, launched in 1996, celebrates the different international Gold Medals won by the distillery. Tennessee has a long history of temperance, and the state had already passed prohibition laws years before the start of the nationwide Prohibition in 1920. Despite this, Lem Motlow carried on his uncle’s legacy and brought Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey to London, where it was deemed unaltered by prohibition regulations and awarded the Certificate of the Institute of Hygiene. The commemorative Jack Daniel’s 1915 Gold Medal was bottled in 2002 at 90 proof.
