Back when big, shiny golden medals were handed out to distillers by institutes that had fancy names like ‘L’Institut Pour Les Selections De La Qualité’, Jack Daniel’s was awared multiple times. Jack Daniel’s 1981 Gold Medal No. 7 was bottled in 2006 and is the seventh release in their Gold Medals series. When they entered the competition in 1981, they were awarded the competition’s top medal, the ‘Grand Gold Medal with Palm Leaves.’ So not just a gold medal, oh no, it has frigging palm leaves on it too. The medal was awarded in Amsterdam, which is why our capital’s name is on the box of this one litre bottle.
