Jack Daniel’s Old No.7 Imperial Quart is a rare vintage release of the classic Old No.7 Tennessee Whiskey. The Old. No. 7 is legendary in bourbon circles. It uses the same old charcoal mellowing process that Jack used when he first started making his whiskey in the late 19th century. This process requires a little patience, as each drop of whiskey makes its way through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal before being aged in the distillery’s own hand made barrels. There are countless stories about Jack, from how he learnt the art of distilling from an enslaved man named Nathan Green, to after the Civil War when he employed the now freed Green as his master distiller. But it seems Jack put all his patience into his whiskey making and didn’t have much left over for ordinary life. One day, Jack turns up to the office and struggles to open his safe. In a fit of frustration he kicks it and breaks his toe. This tiny injury will eventually take his life. If only he’d taken his time like he did with his whiskey…
