Kavalan 2007 Distillery Reserve is a single malt from the Taiwanese Kavalan Distillery. The whisky was distilled in 2007 and matured in a peaty cask for 6 years. It was bottled on 9 December 2013 at 55% ABV. The whisky comes in a beautifully elegant bottle, which in turn comes in a luxury case. Taiwan is the world’s third largest market for single malt whisky, yet the country only has one distillery. This is because, until 2002, the Taiwanese government had a monopoly on producing alcohol. The Kavalan Distillery was established in 2005, making it the country’s first (and so far, only) private whisky distillery. Kavalan single malt has already won several awards, including Jim Murray’s ‘New Whisky of the Year’ and ‘World’s Best Single Malt Whisky’ at the World Whiskies Award.
