The Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown reopened in 2004 after being closed since 1925. Since Loch Lomond Distillers took over the Glengyle brand in the meantime, the distillery’s single malt is now bottled under the name Kilkerran. In autumn 2020, the distillery introduced their oldest single malt so far: the Kilkerran 16 Years Old. The expression will be part of the core range as a limited annual edition. Kilkerran 16 Years Old 2022 Release matured in 70% ex-bourbon and 30% ex-sherry casks. It has a sweet nose of citrus, orange, Turkish delight, foam bananas, strawberry laces and cereal. The palate brings sweet flavours of pear drops, sherbet, toffee apples, toasted marshmallows and orange, with a touch of peat smoke in the background. Hints of liquorice, peppermint and peat smoke linger on the finish.
