A 100% bourbon-matured single malt has finally returned to Glengyle’s annual Cask Strength series! Kilkerran 8 Years Old Bourbon Cask Strength Batch #8, released in early 2023, is bottled at a robust cask strength of 55.8%. The single malt is harmonic with notes of elderflower, vanilla, pineapple, coconut and peat smoke. Glengyle is one of the three remaining distilleries in Campbeltown. It was originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, but closed again in 1925. The distillery was reopened in 2004 by Hedley Wright, a descendant of the Mitchell family. Glengyle’s relaunched single malt is called Kilkerran. This name comes from the Gaelic Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain (‘head of the lake of Saint Kieran’s cell’), the name of a mediaeval settlement where Campbeltown stands today.
