Kilkerran Hand Filled Distillery Exclusive 2021 was hand-bottled on 19 August 2021 at 57.1% and made available exclusively at the Glengyle distillery. In 2004, Springbank owner J&A Mitchell reopened the historic Glengyle distillery. Glengyle was originally founded in 1872, but the distillery closed after less than fifty years. Since its reopening, Glengyle’s malts are bottled under the name Kilkerran because the Glengyle brand now belongs to Loch Lomond Distillers, who use it for their blended malt. Kilkerran comes from the Gaelic Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain (‘head of the lake of Saint Kieran’s cell’), the name of a medieval settlement where Campbeltown stands today.
