Kilkerran Heavily Peated Small Batch 9 is a heavily peated version of Kilkerran, a departure from the distillery’s typically lightly peated single malt. The Campbeltown whisky is made with barley malted to around 45ppm and is matured predominantly in bourbon casks, with a small number of sherry casks thrown in the mix. Kilkerran Heavily Peated Small Batch 9 was bottled in August 2023 at a cask strength of 59.2%. The nose offers aromas of freshly baked shortbread, cream soda, banana loaf and coconut shavings. The creamy vanilla notes carry through to the palate in notes of buttered digestive biscuits and custard creams. The peat is prominent in the finish, along with hints of gooseberries to round off this dram.
