The cask strength Lagavulin 12 Years Old is one of the stalwarts of Diageo’s annual Special Releases. It was introduced in 2002, making this Lagavulin 12 Years Old Diageo Special Releases 2003 only the second-ever release of the popular expression. The Islay single malt opens with smoky aromas that soon turn into toffee sweetness, fruits and nuts. The palate reveals a malty sweetness with herbal notes, a touch of seaweed, pine resin and fragrant smoke. The long-lasting finish is reminiscent of ship’s tar, ropes and polish.
