Lagavulin 16 Years Old Distillers Edition 2003 is a limited-edition single malt from the Islay distillery Lagavulin that has been double matured. The whisky was distilled in 2003, and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks before being bottled in 2019 at 43% ABV. The Lagavulin distillery was founded in 1816 by John Johnston, although there was illicit distillation happening on the site as far back as 1742. Lagavulin is known for its slow distillation process, which is why the distillery’s slogan is ‘Time takes out the fire, but leaves in the warmth’. It takes time to create good things, like this whisky.
