Laphroaig 13 Years Old Chieftain’s 2005 is a peaty Islay malt, drawn from two sherry butts laid down in October 2005. It was bottled in May 2019 by independent bottler Ian Macleod for the Chieftain’s range. The Laphroaig distillery was founded in 1815 by the brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston. Ian Hunter was the last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery. When he died childless in 1954, he left Laphroaig to Bessie Williamson, the first female manager of a Scotch whisky distillery. One of 1502 bottles. The bottle comes in the original tube.
